Situation

Pharmaceutical companies are facing unprecedented challenges in getting new drugs reimbursed. Our client needed to better understand how to structure their Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) application, and what different options might look like.

Task

To obtain customer insights to help guide and inform which reimbursement approach our client ought to pursue.

Action

We utilised scenario-based market research surveys with clinicians to help forecast and model the potential impact of different reimbursement approaches. This is something that is growing in relevance with the increasing use of ‘combination’ treatment in many indications, resulting in the need for pharmaceutical companies and the PBAC to better understand how clinicians might ‘sequence’ new and expensive products.

Our improved insights provided comprehensive and robust evidence that could be (and was) included as supporting documentation in a PBAC submission.
